My definition of stanza would be "a number of lines that is part of a poem in a short paragraph".
Example:
Last night you gave me a kiss
You didn't know it, but I was awake when you did
You were quiet, you were gonna let me sleep
So I just laid there pretending to be

Significance of the Term:
This term is important because poems are supposed to be written in a short amount of space within a few words. It shouldn't actually be like a story or a song. It's important for language arts because it shows us how to put words in an organized matter.
